Intensity – Chivu Overhauls Inter Milan Athletic Preparation Work From Inzaghi Era
Cristian Chivu is overhauling the athletic preparation at Inter Milan from the Simone Inzaghi, focusing on greater intensity. Today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Romanian is demanding more, longer, and higher-intensity sessions. Cristian Chivu is taking charge of his first preseason at Inter Milan. The players all arrived back in training this weekend. And the first order of business for the 44-year-old coach is to get the players into physical shape. And already, reports the Gazzetta, the differences are very evident compared to in the last few seasons under Simone Inzaghi. The newspaper note that the intensity is considerably higher with Chivu and his athletic coach Stefano Rapetti. Chivu Ratchets Up The Intensity In Training At Inter From Inzaghi Era CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – JUNE 30: Alessandro Bastoni #95 and Nicolo Barella #23 of FC Internazionale Milano warm up prior to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 round of 16 match between FC Internazionale Milano and Fluminense FC at Bank of America Stadium on June 30, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo by) According to the Gazzetta, the training sessions are more frequent under Chivu than Inzaghi. Furthermore, the Romanian has increased the length of the sessions. They now run around ninety minutes, the length of a match. Under Inzaghi, the training sessions tended to run around an hour. Furthermore, Chivu has the players in the gym more. Strength training is something the new coach sees as essential for preventing muscle injuries. Ultimately, Chivu's goal is to have the players at a higher athletic level than in the past. The 44-year-old is keen to have fewer drop-offs in intensity in the second halves of matches than Inter have in recent seasons. Furthermore, the Gazzetta note, Chivu also want to switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation. And with three strikers or attacking midfielders on the pitch, there will be a greater need than ever for the entire team to cover a lot of ground and support the attack.

Chivu Aims To Become The ‘Democratic Dictator' As Inter Milan Coach
Cristian Chivu is aiming to become the 'democratic dictator' of Inter Milan in his first season as Nerazzurri coach. Today's print edition of the Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, highlight the Romanian coach's approach, and his focus on heralding change at the San Siro. Cristian Chivu took over as Inter Milan coach at the start of June. And the Romanian has a tough task on his hands. He is replacing Simone Inzaghi following the 49-year-old's shock departure for the riches on offer at Al-Hilal. Considering that Inzaghi had spent four years shaping Inter in his image, Chivu will have his work cut out for him trying to put his own spin on the team. (Photo by) According to the Corriere della Sera, Chivu wants to become Inter's 'democratic dictator.' On the one hand, the 44-year-old coach wants to make sure that his authority is total and unquestioned. Chivu will not defer to the dressing room leaders at Inter. He has been clear from the start that the team is his, his decisions are final, and he is the one accountable for the performances. However, Chivu will work with the team to find a formula that works. The Romanian is likely to switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation. But he will not be dogmatic about it.

Ex Juventus & Barcelona Midfielder Predicts ‘Inter Milan & Napoli Lead The Race' For Serie A Title
Former Juventus and Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic believes that Inter Milan and Napoli are the top contenders for the Serie A title. The Bosnian gave his thoughts on the upcoming title race in an interview in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Last season, the title race in Serie A came down to Napoli and Inter Milan. The Partenopei and the Nerazzurri fought it out until the final day of the campaign. In the end, just a point separated the pair at the top of the table, with the Campanian team prevailing. That suggests that it could be another close-run race next season as well. On the other hand, both Napoli and Inter have been very active in the transfer market this summer. The Partenopei have reinforced with big name signings like Kevin De Bruyne, Noa Lang, and Sam Beukema. And they are likely to make one or two more at least. Meanwhile, Inter have signed the likes of Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, and Ange-Yoan Bonny, as well as bringing Francesco Pio Esposito back. Furthermore, the Nerazzurri are pushing to sign Ademola Lookman from Atalanta. They will also likely sign a defender before the transfer window ends. Miralem Pjanic: 'Inter & Napoli Leading The Race' For Serie A Title SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 21: Cristian Chivu, Head Coach of FC Internazionale Milano, looks on during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group E match between FC Internazionale Milano and Urawa Red Diamonds at Lumen Field on June 21, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) There are also other factors to consider. Inter have changed coach, with Cristian Chivu replacing Simone Inzaghi following the latter's decision to step down and earn considerably more at Al-Hilal. Then, Napoli will have to navigate the new challenge of Champions League football after playing just one match per week for all of last season. Then, it is not as though Inter and Napoli are the only team with a credible chance of winning the title. The likes of AC Milan, Juventus, Atalanta, and Roma could certainly have their say. But midfielder Miralem Pjanic replied 'yes' as far as whether Napoli are the favourites. 'They're coming off the back of a brilliant season,' said the 35-year-old. 'Conte worked a miracle.' 'Last season, with the squad they have, Inter should have won the Scudetto.' 'Now the Nerazzurri have changed coach,' noted Pjanic. 'But the team is more or less the same, and that's a positive.' 'And if Lookman comes in it will shift the balance,' added the Bosnian. 'Inter will start again at the front of the race once again, alongside Napoli.'

Legendary Ex AC Milan Coach Predicts ‘Napoli Favourites For Serie A Title – But Inter Milan Closing The Gap With Lookman'
Arrigo Sacchi feels that Napoli are the favourites for the Serie A title, but Inter Milan are 'closing the gap' by signing Ademola Lookman. The legendary former AC Milan and Italy coach gave his thoughts on the upcoming title race in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Last season, the title race in Serie A came down to Napoli and Inter Milan. The Partenopei and the Nerazzurri fought it out until the final day of the campaign. Sacchi: 'Napoli Favourites For Serie A, But Inter Closing The Gap With Lookman' TURIN, ITALY – MARCH 09: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal during the Serie A match between Juventus and Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium on March 09, 2025 in Turin, Italy. (Photo by) Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi writes that 'I'll start by saying I still consider Napoli the favourites for the title.' 'I say this because I'm taking several factors into account,' he continues. 'Napoli are ahead. But Inter could close the gap if they sign Lookman, and have a spectacular title race.' Sacchi writes that Lookman's 'technical and athletic ability are beyond question.' 'He's shown that at Atalanta.' Then, the former Milan coach writes that 'I appreciate Chivu for what he's done at Parma, a team that are particularly dear to me.' 'He kept them up by quickly giving them a clear identity: Organization, determination, a spirit of sacrifice, and great defensive quality.' 'But at Inter it will be a different story,' Sacchi anticipates. 'The Nerazzurri will have to take control of the game, and not just play on the counterattack.' 'So Chivu will have to make some changes compared to what we saw at Parma.' Meanwhile, Sacchi believes that an attacking trident of Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Ademola Lookman is possible. 'But to get that trio on the pitch, the forwards need to work hard in the press,' he warns. 'Otherwise the team will struggle.'

Last Dance – Five Veteran Inter Milan Stars Set For Final Season Before A ‘Revolution' Next Summer
This season will be the 'last dance' for five veteran players in the last years of their contracts with Inter Milan. Today's print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, identify Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, Matteo Darmian, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as players set to depart next summer. Last season, Inter had the oldest squad in Serie A in terms of average age. Moreover, the Nerazzurri regularly started matches with a starting eleven whose average age was north of thirty. Clearly, therefore, it is not overly surprising that the single biggest priority in the summer transfer window for Inter has been to bring that average age down. That does not, however, mean that there has been a major exodus of any of the aging players. On the contrary, the veterans have all stuck around. But according to the Corriere dello Sport, that won't be for long. 'Last Dance' For Five Veteran Players At Inter Milan SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 25: Francesco Acerbi #15 of FC Internazionale Milano walks on the field prior to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group E match between FC Internazionale Milano and CA River Plate at Lumen Field on June 25, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by) In goal, Yann Sommer has one more year left to go on his contract at Inter. And the Swiss veteran will see out his deal, despite having been linked with Galatasaray this summer. However, there is little indication that Inter will offer an extension to Sommer. The former Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach keeper will turn 37 this coming season. And Josep Martinez is waiting in the wings to replace him. Similarly, all of Stefan de Vrij, Matteo Darmian, and Francesco Acerbi are still pillars of Inter's defense. De Vrij, in particular, has been with Inter since 2018. But all three are out of contract with Inter at the end of next June. And the same is true of midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian has been a reliable servant to the Nerazzurri, but turns 37 in January. Next summer, when all of these players' contracts expire, the Corriere anticipate that there will be nothing short of a 'revolution' in Inter's squad.
